The majority of us are having hair testing done with Doctor's Data and this

is who Dr. Holmes recommends. I had my local Pediatrician order this test for

us.

Metals testing is sometimes difficult. In the case of Mercury, it

usually doesn't show up in the blood or hair unless the exposure has

been very recent.

One of the things I found out from Dr. Amy Holmes' lecture was that

elevated lactic acid in the urine and an abnormal organic acid panel

are both possible indicators of Mercury toxicity. Also, elevated

blood copper level and low blood zinc level could be an indication of

metal problems.

The only real way to see if there is mercury in your child is by

doing a chelation challenge. This should be done with a doctor.

Essentially you give the child the medicine to chelate them and

measure what comes out. If you have lots coming out at a high level,

then you know you should proceed with chelation.

At the recent DAN! conference they stated that it was important to

heal the gut first prior to chelation. Obviously, since you are on

this list, you are doing GFCF - that's good, since that is step one.

Anyway - if you can find a good DAN! doctor to go over the results of

your blood tests that would be great. Our original ped looked at the

lactic acid and abnormal organic acid and didn't think it showed her

anything important - she didn't know what to look for.

Good luck.
