I asked my Teeter yesterday if they could order it and I'm waiting to

hear back from the manager. If I can find the will, I'm going to confirm with

the Fresh Market in Charlotte that they have it. I wanted to cry just talking

to the people at Teeter and trying to explain to these people as they

look at me like I'm an alien. Honestly, I'm not having a hard time dealing with

it in terms of what I can't eat and all that. But I know it's different for me,

I'm not sick. In the back of my mind, I know I don't HAVE to do this. My

husband has the choice between being wretchedly ill or this. He normally is Mr.

Silver Lining and always looks on the bright side, but he's taking this a lot

harder than I expected. I know it's just going to take some time.

I think he would benefit from reading BTVC and being more informed about the

diet- seeing it more as a good thing. I have a lot of SCD cookbooks and it

helped to know that I could eat all those good recipes one day in the future if

not in the beginning.

My husband took it hard too. He likes to go out to eat, and he did gripe about

not being able to take me anywhere even if I will go and bring my own or eat

later. It is an adjustment and a change, but the benefits are worth it. Hold on

to that. It upset me too to hear him gripe- I was still cooking for him, and it

was my problem, but change effects you both.

There are some really good SCD foods. Try the nut butter brownies on

pecanbread.com (it is a site for kids with ASD so it is non dairy, remember we

don't have that restriction and can use SCD legal dairy products). Cooked apples

with cinnamon and honey are great. Once I got the hang of SCD cooking, I have to

fight to keep my family OUT of my SCD food. (or just cook enough for them)

Have him log on here and engage him more in the understanding of the diet so he

does not feel all alone.

You both sound really stressed out. Might I suggest taking an Epsom

salt bath? 2 cups to a tub of warm water up to the navel. It helps to relax and

de-toxify the body. 20 minutes I think.

Hang in there, you’re doing a huge lifestyle change. The

SCD will definitely help your dh.
