Re: Feeding Therapy Options??

Hi Kim and ,

Henry just began with a feeding therapist about 1 month ago and I can honestly

say he has eaten more new foods this past month than he has in 3 years.

Her process was to introduce new foods that were still in his genre of food

groups - in other words a long journey down the snack aisle of a multitude of

carb evil foods. (I am tackling one issue at a time, healthier foods are

certainly on my mind but getting anything in his mouth is paramount before

changing his diet).

Now we are onto fruits and breads with more texture. Luckily we have progressed

to whole wheat bread and he had a grilled cheese sandwich with a very thin slice

of ham. The first time Henry has had meat since baby food. Yea!!!!

At this point Henry can have breakfast that we have tried to increase in portion

size and I have stopped him off the pump earlier so he is eating earlier. We

make sure he has three hours between meals and only one snack in the afternoon.

He has no hypoglcemic problems. I have stopped giving him a sampling of foods

and give him just one main food with fruit.

He now has to taste (that is bite, chew and swallow)something from our plates at

lunch and dinner. This he doesn't like since he has pretty much never had food

pass his lips (I'm talking pasta, meats, veggies etc. If he doesn't do it then I

have to put the food on his lips just so he gets a taste. Yes this part sucks

and has exhausted us, but I can not deny the progress he has made these past few

weeks.

Let me know if you would like more details,

Hi ,

I am glad to hear that it is going so well for you. You must be

very happy with the feeding therapist.

We are busy trying to find an " appropriate " placement for and

for kindergarten.
