Guest guest
My son starts physical therapy next Tuesday for torticollis he is 3 months old. He also has Plagiocephaly, I have been doing everything I can think of for the past month to keep pressure off of his head and nothing is working. He is not scheduled to see a Developmental specialist until December he will be 7 months by then. From there I'm assuming we will see a neruologist then finally see about getting his helmet. I've been trying to find other developmental specialist that can get him in earlier but I can't ever get a call back. My husband is in the Army and I know Tricare won't pay for anything so I'm thinking about just going over his dr and seeing a neurologist to get things going asap! Also I looked up Hanger and noticed that they have a free evaluation. I just feel like I can't get anyone to take me seriously! Have any of you all been in this situation how do you get people to listen?!!! I'm soo frustrated!
Guest guest
dear amanda i would start by one seeing which band companies are near you and which benefits they offer when my first child needed a band i had to go through so many doctors before i could get someone to see there was something going on and then it took a while to start the whole process, so my 2nd time around i knew what to look for and called those offices myself without waiting for a referral and had a consultation, note that most places offer free consultations and will take measurements for you and will let you know if your child needs a band and can start you within a couple weeks if they do most times they will go the extra mile and call the doc for a script for the band for you, as we know that some doctors overlook plagio and will tell you it self corrects, now insurance may cover some but most dont so you can try to appeal if denied or you can ask what sort of discounts they offer for self pay, depending how you pay they may cut down the price they did for me. I anyway i hope this is useful emily > > My son starts physical therapy next Tuesday for torticollis he is 3 months old. Guest guest
you can get the prescription for a band from a pediatrician or specialist. You can consider seeing a cranio facial plastic surgeon or a neurosurgeon. Tricare doesn't pay for the band from what i have seen here, so why wait? -christine sydney, 3.5 yrs, starband grad > > My son starts physical therapy next Tuesday for torticollis he is 3 months old.
