Guest guest
I'm glad the Pedialyte is staying down. That is a good sign. But it is not going to keep her from spilling ketones. You are going to have to add apple juice or Gatorade to keep up her sugar levels. Check Dalia's ketones, too. If she is spilling them and they become moderate or large, then she has to be taken to the hospital for rehydration. The doctor may try to get you to just keep her in the ER for a few hours, but she will not be able to keep those ketones away unless she starts eating. You need to check Salem/Brock's email from a day or two ago about stomach viruses. Jenn and I both do the same for our RSS kids when they are sick with this and it is a tried and true method. Print it out and then have your doctor read it. This works for all of our RSS kids and is going to be put into the Guidebook. If you have more questions, email me privately or post on the listserve. I will be checking back later. Jodi Z
Guest guest
Sheryl, Jonah's situation was so similar. Happy and feeling fine in between occasional throwing up. If you read my earlier posts, you will see that Jonah was admitted then released and then readmitted. We then saw Dr. H. and as Jodi said the ketones are a huge factor. Dr. H let Jonah return home Friday even though he was still spilling ketones because they would go down and he was eating. She did not want him in the hospital where he could catch something else since he was getting better. If Dalia is still throwing up and not eating, she should probably be on an IV and be careful about not getting off of it too soon. Good luck, , Jonah's mom Need quick response - stomach virus > > > Dalia has had a stomach virus since yesterday morning...she has > thrown up all the Pediasure I have tried to give her. Guest guest
Dalia started keeping a mixture of Pediasure/Pedialyte down starting at 2pm today...her ketones were moderate, but right before bed they went down to the next level. I am going to check it in a little while again and keep feeding her through the night. If the ketones don't stay down I am surely going to go immediately to the ER. Thanks for the input...
