My son also has Aspergers, and he has Sensory

Integration Dysfunction. We have been on the diet for

about a month now and I have noticed less anger and

aggression and I have noticed that he plays better

with other children in large groups - doesnt get as

upset. However, one thing that I have noticed that I

had a question about - he seems to be doing a lot more

crying lately, and even the school has noticed this as

well. He seems to be very sensitive and cries over

everything. He used to get very angry and scream and

yell and hit, but now he cries. He also starts crying

and the drop of a hat (ie. - When I was explaining to

him about his brothers surgery and how he would have

an IV, started crying hysterically saying that

I reminded him of when he had his IV a couple years

ago, and on the news our Civic Center was on fire and

he started crying saying he really liked that building

- he had only been there once. And the other day he

started crying about a video game he hasnt played in

months.) Is this diet related?

My boy w/AS also went through a period of frequent tears. Looking

back, he associates it with gfcf withdrawal & warns parents to expect

their children to cry alot when they start the diet. His life

changed dramatically on the diet, and it has taken awhile to sort

things out.

Just remember there is usually a regression time. I started the diet with my

son when he was 3 years old, and although we saw almost immediate progress,

there were areas that he regressed in for a while. He went through an

" obsessive compulsive " stage and that was very scary. We carried on with the

diet and the improvements have been remarkable. It could be that you are going

through a regression.
