Guest guest
, You have to become a good advocate for your child when they have RSS,it's not even a conscious thought, you just do it. We went through all of the questions with the other kids when Ian first started school. Now that he's on the 5th grade, everyone is used to him. The girls LOVE to baby him and still do alot more for him than they would normally do for boys. He'll be starting middle school next year, so I'm sure we will be revisiting all of the " I'm different " issues. We try to keep things as normal for him as we can and not let him use RSS as an excuse not to do things. We try to let him to do the same things as kids his age, wear the same clothes, shoes, etc.. but with limits!! He takes karate lessons in the summer, has played soccer, raced in a BMX bike league and is now dirt bike riding with my husband. He's your average 10 going 11 year old, but he has his other needs we have to take care of. When people ask, I just tell that there are high maintenance women, well I have a high maintenance kid. :> Thanks for letting me know I can ask questions. I may just take you up on that. If you want to visit sometime, let me know. I work part time,go to school part time,am the wife of a fireman, and of course am busy Ian's mom, so our schedule is kind of strange sometimes...
