Today's Times: Benefit of Whole Grain Carbs

Hi All,

Just thought I would pass on the link to an article in today's

NYTimes, on the move by cereal companies to give parents more options

with whole grains. The print article has a nice table showing how

General Mills' cereal's fiber contents changed after it made all of

its breakfast cereals whole grain.

And, thought I would share my hint for cereals with picky RSS kids:

--> Mix the health cereal with a few tablespoons of the dreaded

unhealthy stuff, then gradually phase out until your child is used to

the non-sugary stuff!

--> Add fresh cut fruit, bananas, raisins to the cereal bowl

--> Place baggies of the cereal (not just cheerios!) in backpacks,

etc.

--> Mix cereal with French whole milk yogurts (you can find these in

health food stores)

--> Crush health cereals into crumbs and use as breading for Chicken
