Guest guest
I know I don't post often and most posts are when we are at our lowest point but I do just want to say a huge thank you to all who offered advice on feeding pumps and particularly to Meribeth for her contacts for a Zevex infinity pump. It is really great, accurate, reliable and so light (at 411 grammes) that (at just 9 kilos) can put it on his back for several hours in the day. He runs around the playground ( a first for him) and the alarm doesn't go off when he is not 100% upright! is on a 24 hour feeding regime. Despite all of 's struggles, I couldn't help but wonder at how small the world is these days and what greater potential there is for our kids to develop. We had this pump imported from the US in this tiny nursery in Tokyo with a british person explaining how to use it to a teacher from southern Japan and them all beavering away to come up with the best utensils for the local weather and nursery functionality.....When I took in today they had practiced with some used feeding bags and the head of the nursery had rooted out a soft, disposable cooler bag that she was given a while back when she bought some ice-cream. They had cut it and chopped it and molded it into a sort of bag to put around the feed before the 30-odd degree summer heat hits..They were testing it with water and a frozen coolant when I got there....2 hours, still cold and counting! .. For anyone else who might want to give it a try - Zevex could not sell a pump directly overseas either through their overseas reps in UK or Canada or directly.I got mine through Meribeth's provider: Northwest Enteral Supply purchasing manager - Havlicek jhavlicek@... It cost 1330 dollars for pump and attachments and 232 dollars for 30 days of bags. I guess this could be expensive since it is such a new pump but well worth it for such small kids. I didn't speak to her but I understand the owner also has a child with special needs and set up the company to provide a more friendly service to families than they can often get from bigger players. We use a little rucksack that we found but I understand the mini packs from Zevex are now also on sale. I'm sure they will be at the convention showing off their wares!
