Guest guest
Hi, Thanks to all who responded to me when I wrote about Jonah being sick. This has been such a horrible week...Jonah was readmitted to the hospital, put back an IV on Wednesday and by Thursday it blew and three people, including doctors could not get it to work. (, I was almost in tears when I read your e-mail.) We took him home because he seemed better and I was not going to let them prick him again. The next day, he threw up again so we got in the car and headed to Mt. Sinai. Thank God Dr. H. was there and took us right in. She had him drink and tested his ketones all day. He was spilling, but since they were going down she decided to let him go home since he could catch more at the hospital, as you said Pat. He is doing much better, only threw up once yesterday and has been eating and drinking, but his ketones are fluctuating. Dr. H. gave us glucose syrup. She also gave us prevacid to give him which he took on his tongue for her, but won't do for us. Can this becrushed and mixed with water? Sorry to ramble on, it just helps to write to people who understand. Jonah's weight is so low, but Dr. H. would love to avoid a feeding tube, but these ketones may remain a problem though and then we would need a feeding tube. Does anyone know of anything we could give Jonah to prevent this especially at school.? Do any of you use the glucose regularly? Anything else besides just a lot of carbs. He can't eat and drink nonstop.. Anyway, again I am sorry to ramble on. I also got sick and I have been very depressed on top of it all because a 3 year old girl that I have been involved with at work as a Family Resource Coordinator was beaten to death by her father on Tuesday night!! My school is on break so I found out about it on the news, needless to say I was in shock when I heard this on TV. Since we are on break and Jonah has been sick, I have not been able to speak to any of the social workers or her preschool. It is just so horrible. Here we are trying to do everything so our kids are happy and healthy and a father does this because she would not eat her peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I am so sorry to write all this, I am just so depressed over all of this. Well, I am thinking of everyone and I hope Connor is feeling better and the tube is working. Again, sorry to go on and on. , Jonah's mom
