Guest guest
Hello - We have had occasional trouble with the sensors on the pump and have desensitized them by padding them with tape. Sometimes our son doesn't get the right dosage because their is a partial kink in the tubing while he is wearing it in the backpack. Best of Luck - the G-tube does get easier. Guest guest
, I can empathize with you about the DME companies. I have been dealing with incompetent people for 11 years! I am assuming you have a Zevex Enteralite pump. We just switched to this a month ago, and I had a lot of problems with mine too not delivereing ht eaccurate dose. After numerous calls to Zevex, they told me I had to prime the air out of the bag. I had a Kangaroo pump before this, and I never had to do this. Of course, the DME person who came with the Zevex pump had never even seen a feeding pump before. After I started getting the air out, the problems diminished significantly. Here's how to do it: 1) Pour formula in the bag. 2) Close cap tightly. 3) Turn bag upside down, so the air is now at the top. 4) Pinch the occluder clip together in one hand & squezze the top of the bag with the air in it in the other hand. It is best to do this over a sink. You can also let the pump get the air out by holding the prime button while the bag is upside down. If you are using a new bag, the first way is the easiest way to do this. If you are adding formula to an existing feeding bag, it is easier to use the prime feature (takes a little longer). 5) After air is out, turn bag right side up again & prime the formual through the tubing by pinching the occluder clip & letting formula run through (quicker way) or using the prime button with the pump. This made a big difference in the right quantity going in & stopping the frequent alarming. One more thing about the dose delivery. When we got our pump, it was set not to beep when the dose was done. I didn't realize this until a whole week of usage. Since was wearing his pump in a backapack, I didn't know the pump " thought " his dose was done when it actually wasn't.
