Guest guest
I don't remember ever reading about the carb content of cheese. How come that's bad?michelleTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Mon, April 12, 2010 10:31:50 AMSubject: Re: Re: Farmer Cheese I think there are different versions, made from full fat, low fat, etc., so possibly you have one with a different carb level than the one referenced here. In anyway, next time you are at the store, note all the particulars. Guest guest
yes, please advise, because the Lifeway brand I have is the same as the original poster's concern... 4G carbs / 2TBL serving size. I sure hope a conclusion is drawn that this is legal farmers cheese, because as I said before it is the only type I can find in my entire city (was a wild egg hunt trying to just find this). Many thanks. -Dana > > > I too am interested in this debate as the Lifeway brand is the only thing I can get in my area (Missouri) at Whole Foods, and I have been using it in the cheesecake so far(breads when I get more advanced), and plan on making a mousse as soon as I can as well. > > > > Can others advise on the Lifeway brand? Guest guest
I called lifeway and they said that their farmer's cheese is 99% lactose free. Maybe I need to call them back and be specific for each kind they sell???michelleTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Mon, April 12, 2010 1:36:20 PMSubject: Re: Re: Farmer Cheese At 12:48 PM 4/12/2010, you wrote: I don't remember ever reading about the carb content of cheese. How come that's bad? If the lactose has not been fermented out, the cheese will have higher carbs. That is why you look for the carb content. The cheeses listed in BTVC under "use freely" are basically carb-free, thus lactose free. Soft cheeses that have not been properly fermented have too many carbs. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
