Guest guest
Hi everyone, this is just a quick intro to say hi and a little more about our experience to date. My son Reilly is 5 months old and will be assessed for a helmet in 3 days time. We noticed his left side of his head was flatter than it should have been and he would never turn or face right. We took him to see our doctor at 6 weeks old who diagnosed possible torticollis and admitted that there was a difference in his symmetry, he referred us to our hospital to see a paediatrician. We waited 3 months for the appointment just to be told that it didnt matter that his head was getting worse, it would sort itself out in time. He would not diagnose him with plagio or torticollis, would not give him physio as he would become more mobile and it would rectify itself in a few months. Apparently we were to continue repositioning until our next appointment in 6 months time. As you can all probably understand, a wait and see attitude isnt possible when it comes to our loved ones and we are currently looking in to other ways to get him physio and of course getting a helmet fitted for him. I've read loads on the internet about both conditions and am disgusted that we parents have to fight so hard to get help for our children. Here in the UK our only option is to go private whereas other countries provide helmets and physio with no cost or argument. Grrr....just makes me so angry. Fingers crossed my little man gets what he needs
