Hello everyone!!!

This is the time that Christian has been waiting for for over a year.

He has started T-ball. He's out of his mind excited. And I'm excited to have

an outlet for all that energy that he has. Anyway, the problem is, that all

the mitts that we have found are too big for his hand. I was wondering if

anyone knows where I can find a specialty sports store to find " special needs "

sports equipment. I've tried the inter-net but I didn't have much luck. My

husband is going to try to take a small t-ball bat (which is still too big

for Christian) and weld it to his size, but I may need that also. The

smallest size mitt that I could find is a 9-inch and the bat is a 24/13. Any

advice

would be great. I want to give him the best opportunity that I can.

Thanks.

Hi ,

We had the same problems when my now, 15 yr old Kaity, started ball at age

5. She was VERY small for her age. We bought the smallest mitt that we could

find, and made sure to condition it well, get it as soft and flexible as

possible. We, also, had Kaity squeezing a " stress " ball to build up her hand

and arm muscles. In the end it all worked out. Be assured that not too many

kids are very good at catching the ball at this age anyway, so even if the

mitt is a little large, he'll learn how to manipulate it so that it works

for him.

When it came to batting, we just had her use the lightest, and shortest bat

we could find.

For the batting helmet, we bought her the smallest helmet available, and

then had her wear her ball under the helmet. It wasn't a great fit, but it

worked.

Hope this helps!
