Hey my friend,

I have a feeling that when you discontinue your " boulder "

manufacture, you are going to drop another load of weight! You are

my hero for more reasons than you might even suspect!

Thanks just for hanging around, investing your time, sharing of

yourself, and always for putting a smile on my face!

Hugs,

Theresa

I'm not sure that this would give you much ammunition, but it may be a

start. The quote below is directly from the Optifast site

<<The OPTIFAST Program has been used in the treatment of over 1,000,000

patients since 1974. Over 80 clinical studies have been published describing

research with OPTIFAST.

Significant medical improvements have been experienced by people who have

lost weight through an OPTIFAST Program.

52 lb. average weight loss

12% average decrease in blood sugar

12% average decrease in total cholesterol

10% average decrease in blood pressure

Studies show that at two and five years after completing the OPTIFAST

Program, patients have still maintained enough weight loss to improve their

overall health. <<

Tell me would you be satisfied with a 52 lb weight loss or would your health

be improved so much that even with maintaining " enough weight loss " your

health would really be improved?

Hi Chris-- Dr. Morton Maxwell (now deceased) was the head of the UCLA

Obesity program in the early 90's and was one of the developers of

the Optifast program-- I know he published, and I think they did late

followup on most of us who were in the program-- most of us gained

back, so that info ought to be out here-- you might want to do a

literature seach under his name, and if you can access the UCLA med

library, there may be some thesis work not otherwise published based

in that original program. That is if Hull hasn't already found

it...

Rosie,

I know this a big stretch, cuz I went through my liquid fast in 1990

also, but I actually found my old notebook with my handouts and

measurements. Any possibility you can get your hands on any of your

old stuff, or remember the name of the doctor that ran the program,

etc? It is not your fault the hospital destroyed records. Oh, and I

did find out that HMR had sent monthly progress reports and labs to

my PCP. There might be back up documents at your doctors office.

Crossing my fingers for you!

Thanks so much !

All of you have been so wonderful and so supportive. Hopefully Chris

and I might have some good news. At least we are chanting, burning

candles and casting spells!

Theresa
