Yes, weight gain with Effexor is common. Yes you will lost your

excess weight regardless of how you got it.

May people find that as their lives change post op that their

depression goes away. Others are just as depressed as ever. Some

are more depressed. Don't make any assumptions about what will

happen with you.

Be sure and arrange to take your med as last as possible before

surgery and arrange to have it be one of the first things you get to

take post op. Effexor often has a nasty withdrawal syndrome. Don't

go there.

A wee bit of advice from a professional here. If it ain't broke,

don't fix it. If your antidepressant works, don't shop for a

different one.

People lose weight post op DS just fine on all the antidepressants--

even those that are known to promote weight gain.
