Hi Jill,

I looked at his pics and see a lot of improvement. Do you know his cephalic

index? It looks like it might be a bit high (head width vs head length). I know

our doctor (cranial facial plastic surgeon) recommends banding at 10 mm or

above, but some band at lower numbers. Based on picture 100_0733 I would suggest

a 2nd band. That seems to show the remaining problems the most. My daughter had

brachy. She got good improvement, but I still see the problem areas. I guess

that is why I'm more likely to recommend a 2nd band.

- C). His are at the end... " Cade M " . We have our weekly appointment at Cranial

Tech on Wednesday and it will be our last one if we don't decide to proceed with

a second DOC Band. He's outgrown the first one in 7 weeks. We think his head

looks great...but want to feel OK about stopping where we are. His mid-face

asymmetry went from 10 to 4. Skull-base asymmetry went from 8 to 4. Cranial

vault asymmetry only went from 17 to 10. (We're praying for single digits this

week.) When they measured last week, we thought for sure his CV would be closer

to normal range b/c it looks so good to us. We have mainly watched the back

right side, where it looked so bad in the beginning -- and that looks really

good (we think). But I think the area CT would like to see more improvement is

left forehead. Honestly, we haven't paid much attention to that b/c the back

side has had our full attention for so long! I know some people start their band

with a CV number of 10, so I wonder if we're crazy for stopping there. We feel

like the area that still needs improvement isn't obvious to someone not looking

for a problem...but the numbers are throwing us for a loop. I'd appreciate a few

comments on his pictures.

His cephalic index was 78.21 2 weeks ago -- and it was better last week, just don't remember the exact number. I remember them saying that the length to width ratio was almost perfect (last week). His cephalic index started at 84.1 on May 29, when he was first measured.

We'll let you know what we decide. I was really surprised by that particular

picture, too - 100_0073 (the one mentioned), as I've taken a few other

" birds eye view " pics where it wasn't as obvious. It's not something we see from

the front. Even his Cranial Tech pictures from a couple of weeks ago don't look

like that, which I can't figure out. There was still some asymmetry on that

front left side, but definitely not that pronounced.

Thank you for looking at the pictures and sending feedback. I appreciate it very

much.

I wonder if the " 100_00733 " pic might look that way partially because the picture maybe seems more focused on the back right side of his head. I notice I can't see his left ear and his left forehead seems a bit hidden, too. Maybe since the picture wasn't taken directly overhead things are looking worse than they really are in those spots?

Huge improvement overall it seems! I guess assuming those numbers don't change somewhat in the final measurements, I'd tend towards going with the band again - sounds like it won't take long if he grows as fast as he has the last 7 weeks!

But who knows - with the measurement error inherent in manual measurements, plus a weeks improvement with his fast growth, maybe this week you'll find things are indeed a few mm below 10 this week!
