Guest guest
Hi , I've got a reprieve as now from any power outages and wanted to give you my thoughts on this....I am in your spot too as far as arthritis and I have bad joint pain/back pain. I also have a dog who leads me around and he's a blessing. Culture Club got me almost dancing around here so I " high five " that suggestion. I totally understand about not having anyone to do anything with...except my husband and whenever we get fosterkids...I moved here almost 3 yrs ago and I still haven't found any " friends " I can go and do anything with. If it weren't for Buddy...I'd be lost here. Hugs, in AL.
Guest guest
Hi Brigitte, My son is 14 mos old he's about 13lbs(he's also my first/only) and he just started walking about 3 weeks ago (im so bad i should have wrote down the date). When he started walking he would have him go from mom to dad and he would take 1-2 steps then gradually he added another step, and so on and so forth. I know that a good hi-top walking shoe helped him, I could tell the difference when i would put a softer shoe on him. Does she walk around furniture holding on? I remember him turning one and not walking yet, i couldn't wait for him to start walking, and now he's all over the place wanting to open up cabinet doors and exploring places that were new for him. Anyway have her walk to and from you and who ever....that seemed to help ....Hope i didn't babble on..... mom to (14mos RSS) brigitteforeman wrote: Hi All, I know that all our RSS kids have or will walk and different ages etc. Bobbi is (13.5 months & 12.5lb)and is awaiting physio therpy as one of our doctors has noticed her hanstrings are tight. She shows no signs of walking at all yet, but I was wondering if any of you have any advice on how I could help/encourage her, she is my first and only child so any tips would be greatly appreciated. Or is it just a case of she will do it when she is ready? Many Thanks Brigitte ---------------------------------
Guest guest
Hi Brigitte, You said Bobbi has no signs of walking yet. Does that mean she isn't standing (with or without assistance) or cruising along furniture? If she is doing any of these things, I wouldn't worry so much. All of my kids walked late. My RSS son walked at 29 months, but he had more problems than the typical RSS kid. My other son (non RSS) walked at 13.5 months. My non RSS daughter will be 14 months tomorrow, and is still not walking, but she does pull herself to stand & cruise along furniture. I have no worries for her, even though every other baby I know at this age has been walking for some time. I didn't walk until I was 15.5 months old, and I turned out just fine! Guest guest
Hi Caroline, I think this is normal, a lot of both CF kids and regular babies are quite flat footed. I believe what you would want to be watching for is for the heel to actually look tilted in if you are looking at it straight on from behind. If this is not the case he is probably okay, just my non-medical professional opinion. My son's foot looks a bit like you describe and he has been walking unassisted for 5 months. I would just keep an eye on it and if you continue to be concerned, do just what your ortho suggested and take him in for a check up. Hope this helps, Mom to Jenna (4/7/01) & Sammy (9/25/04, RCF, Dobbs brace 12-14hrs/day) > > Hi. I haven't been on this board in a long time. My son was born > with bilateral clubfeet on 2/25/05.
