Guest guest
Hi Sue, I started my son on the NuThera p5p last July. I recently switched to the the nuthera w/o a & d and the cod liver oil pills. Our DAN doctor recommended the switch because of some test results. For several days after the switch, I saw some negative behavior. He is doing really good on the new vitamins. I started the vitamins (full dose) the same week we went gfcf. Austin had a major withdrawal and regression. A couple of months after we started the diet and vitamins, I ran out of the vitamins for about 1 week. Austin regressed without the vitamins. He became depressed and difficult to handle. I haven't tried going without since because he is doing so well. Here are a couple of web-sites that I found helpful: http://www.autism.com/ari/editorials/vitb6.html http://www.autism.com/ari/megson.html Evelyn Mom to Austin (recovered from pdd & hyperlexia) and (nt) 5.6 yr old twins In a message dated 10/27/01 1:42:57 PM Pacific Daylight Time, > Message: 4 > Date: Sat, 27 Oct 2001 10:02:36 EDT > From: JnSm5@... > Subject: Kirkman's Lab... > > Does anyone have their children/child on SuperNuThera? Guest guest
I agree that the Nu thera w/o a & d is WONDERFUL (as oppposed to the super nu thera which has too much crap in it, in my ever so humble opinion) Nu Thera is hypoallergenic and pure. Then to add the cod liver oil with it is the next best wonderful thing you can do and will give our kids what they need. Guest guest
My son couldn't tolerate the smell of SNT, let alone the taste. We are very pleased with NuThera capsules (very small), along with CLO and chewable C. We also made the mistake of starting with a full dose instead of 1/4 dose. There was increased ADHD-like behavior for about a week, then it stopped. Now the reverse is true, so I'm careful not to run out of NuThera. For those interested in trying SNT or NuT, note Kirkman's recomendation to start low & build up. Had I done so, I could have spared us a week of me yelling " stop that! " and almost giving up on what has turned out to be a helpful product for my child. > Hi Sue, > > I started my son on the NuThera p5p last July. Guest guest
Hi Sue, I was at the DAN conference were Megson was one of the presenters. What she said made sense. She has had a lot of success with Cod Liver Oil. In my opinion, it can't hurt to try it out. I am even thinking about giving it to my son's NT twin brother. According to Dr. Megson, " Those most at risk report a family history of at least one parent with a pre-existing G-alpha protein defect, including night blindness, pseudohypoparathyroidism or adenoma of the thyroid or pituitary gland. " In my family, my mom and sister have Grave's disease and my other sister has Hoshimoto's (Thyroid problems). Also, I don't know if it is related, but I am color blind. I really should have tried the cod liver oil sooner but Austin has improved so much, I was reluctant to try new things with him. In the last couple of days, he is even more social than usual. Also, his attention is right on all of the time and he isn't as distractable. I really think this is because of the cod liver oil. Just a side note, it really is important to start out slow with these vitamins. It was a huge mistake on my part to remove all gluten and casien plus start up the vitamins-- full dose on the same day. Everyone suffered from it ;-o When giving the cod liver oil, I was concerned about the mercury. Kirkman's is the only product I will use because they make sure that the cod liver oil is free of mercury and pesticides. I trust them. Wishing you success. Guest guest
This is our experience with several thousand families(start slow) with the NuThera Concentrate capsules . NuThera is hypoallergenic and rarely causes a reaction when you start slow (about 1/2 dose) and then after a couple of weeks add up to a full dose. The product has little or no taste and is very concentrated (a dose is 1/10th of a teaspoon). The major difference with SNT is less vitamin C and E. These vitamins take up a lot of room and we wanted to make the NuThera concentrate as easy to take as possible. We have added a NuThera companion to add to NuThera at a later time. BOth products taken together are roughly to equal the SNT. It is difficult to produce the liquid in Dr. Rimland's formula with a good taste and a good smell. We have trial sizes in a couple of flavors just to make sure that a child will tolerate. Many parents find ingenious ways to mask the flavor and smell. Thanks Humphrey Kirkman Labs > > Hi Sue, > > > > I started my son on the NuThera p5p last July. I recently switched > to the > > the nuthera w/o a & d and the cod liver oil pills. Guest guest
, will be 2 in February, and his DAN, Dr. Baptist in Kansas, recommended that we give him 1000 IU vitamin A each day via cod liver oil. He said that you have to read the label and see how much vit. A is in it in order to figure out how much to give them. Also someone asked if you have to build up to their dosage, and I just wanted to say that our doctor did not mention anything about that. --- Foland wrote: > I looked at cod liver oil and have read the > reasearch papers-but isnt it a > awful lot of vit A?
