Guest guest
Hi, BCBS Fed is a national program and benefits are NOT SUPPOSED to change from state to state. HOWEVER, the state in which the services are provided will refer to there state policy when in doubt. My surgery was denied in Oregon and I didn't have to appeal it to OPM because the national BCBS Fed office (in Wash DC) told Oregon to pay for it. I was able to prove that a historical precedant had been set. What was good for one Fed employee was good for another. If the surgeon bills correctly they should approve it w/o any problems. If any problems occur you can call the DC office and they will tell the state to pay. Just a note. This wasn't just a phone call to DC it was many. It took three long letters and many sleepless nights before they approved it. So GET THE PRE-APPROVAL!!! DON'T believe them when they say they won't pre-approve the surgery.
