Guest guest
Hi Marty, My son has eczema also. In the palm of his hand and on his toes. We use Borage Lotion. It is GFCF and is available at Longs Drugs or through their website at Shikai.com good luck, Rhonda (CA)
Guest guest
At the conference, I noted one of the speakers say that eczema is a symptom of essential fatty acids deficiency. Another reference said that it could be relieved by probiotics such as Culturelle. I don't know if those two are at all related or not. That's all, just thought I would toss it in the pile. . Guest guest
Marty, your son probably needs a stronger lotion, perhaps even hydrocortisone to get rid of it and then maintain with lotion. Keep the area lubricated. Phyllis
Guest guest
* Hi Marty- LJ is 6 1/2 years old now but has had chronic eczema since a couple months old. The foster agency continually prescribed hydrocortisone creams which did nothing most of the time. Once I adopted LJ (5 1/2 years old) I was able to do as I wanted and so I put him on the GFCF diet - cleared for several months and BINGO - came back again full force. I allergy tested him and totally eliminated EVERYTHING with even the slightest allergy too - cleared again temp. but came back full force again. 2 months ago his eczema was the worst it has ever been - open sores, continual picking, scaly raised patches, and now going onto his butt and tummy too. Yeast tested him - negative. Then it looked like someone put kernels of corn under his skin, he had now gotten these bumps. Dermatologist and 2 peds. later I finally got a prescription that seems to be working. Its for 2 different meds (both the pharmacist said are GFCF), only thing since I started both together I don't know if its one that is doing the magic or a combo of the 2., but so far it cleared all the kernel bumps, the patches and rashes, and no more has appeared. Of course it will take the sores a bit to heal. Anyway this is what the docor prescribed - Cutivate Ointment 0.005% by GlaxoWellcome - applied 2x a day, and can be put on right after a shower too Protopic ointment - 0.03% - applied 2x daily, but not right after showering This is the first med I am happy with for him, as I know it must drive him crazy to be so itchy all the time. Also LJ flared up more if he was hot , so I always kept my house cool, drs. note for an a/c school bus, etc. HTH in New York (LJs mom) * On Mon, 22 Oct 2001 19:58:10 -0400 Marty Landman writes: > My 4 yr old autistic son has had eczema behind his right ear for a > couple > of months now. Guest guest
I went to an allergist yesterday for my son. The handout she gave me said, " Atopic dermatitis, or eczema, a skin condition characterized by itchy, scaly, red skin, can be triggered by food allegy. This reaction is often chronic, occuring in individuals with personal or family histories of allergies or asthma. " > Me bad, > > It's eczema my son has, not psoriasis.
