Help please from you knowledgable folks,

Awhile ago, I had expressed concern about staying on Flagyl, the

antibiotic for any extended time, due to the fact that you can

develop resistant buggers that will no longer respond to

antibiotics. At that time I was corrected and told that Flagyl is

not an antibiotic, but rather an antibacterial and antiprotozoal

drug. I am not sure I understand the difference, and also was amazed

that WEBMD.com listed it as an antibiotic.

I have been told that there is a world of difference between an

antibiotic and an antibacterial although their mechanisms can be

similar. Can anyone help me on this in lay(womens) terms, please?

Thanks,

Theresa
