I don't know if it was me or what, but I think I was an " add on " to their appts last Monday Oct. 8th and an " afterthought " to them all. At least, thats how I felt treated. They didn't offer to fax anything for me and they weren't in the least bit interested in my medical records or diet history that I brought with me. Did you get to talk to Dr. Hess himself, or Dr. Oakley? I only got to see Dr. Oakley, since Dr. Hess was out of town. Did you get your questions answered? I didn't get to hardly ask any questions. And even when I told Dr. Oakley that I knew a lot about the surgery because of the internet, he didn't seem too impressed with the internet. My question is - I know they sent off my letter. Should I now send my diet history and medical records or wait for them to ask for them? Will they deny for those things or just put things " on hold " and say they have an incomplete package if they need them? I am tempted to send in that stuff, however, I wouldn't know where to send it to make sure it got to the same person who has my letter. I also don't know if I am better off not sending it because of the " pre-existing " clause my insurance has. However, when I called they said that only pertained to chronic conditions like high blood pressure, etc. that I was treated for in the last 6 months. I wasn't treated for anything in the last 6 mos except bronchitis, but my one PCP did mention high blood pressure 2 yrs ago, tho I never had to have medication. I did have medication for high cholesterol then, but I couldn't take the way it made me feel so tired, so I quit taking it. I know those things were referred to in my letter from Dr. Hess to the insurance company, so if I send in my medical records are they going to say it is a pre-existing cond, even tho I didn't take medication or get treatment in the previous 6 months? what should I do?? Guest guest
Carole, Just focus on a diet history (unless you have BMI < 40). Make sure the insurer gets that.
