I just received word from my brother in NJ that my 9 year old niece has a brain tumor and will be having surgery to remove it sometime in the next 2 or 3 weeks. After that she will also be having chemotherapy and radiation.

has a disorder called neurofibromatosis and has had problems since she was very small but they were manageable (seizure disorder, some mild learning disabilities) but she has been by and large healthy and normal until now.

The tumor is in an area that controls coordination of her right side so obviously we are concerned about the effects of the surgery but it must be done.

I am so sorry to hear that your niece is going through such a scary thing at such a young age. You can count on my thoughts and prayers! May God guide the hands of the surgeon who will be operating and give him the strength and knowledge to make the operation a success. I am slow at answering but I am having fibro pain and it is hard to type.I'm so sorry to hear about your niece. I will remember her in my prayersI have a great niece who has a similar problem and she can always use prayers too. She has tunors in her head. She's had them since she was little. She has had many surgeries to remove the tumors and reconstruct her face. I think she is 9 or 10. I have heard several times that they don't expect her to live long but she keeps going. I have had people pray for her before and it seems to work. Her face is disfigured so the kids tease her.
