Thanks to all for your suggestions. Most of this we had access to when Rich had his two knees replaced.

We don't need a driver. Hannah is 18 now and drives as well as Lysa.

And I can drive too when needed.

these suggestions are all good ones!

Re: Re: sher/Roxanne/Bruce

Sher and Bruce.. You are absolutely right!!!When Mike had his knee replacementI spoke to the Social Worker who sets up the home care. I made it very clear that I could not do the normal"spouse" stuff at all. She set up in home care for Mike for his personal needs in addition to the PT and OT.A visiting nurse came for 3 weeks( 3X weekly) to take his vitals and redo the bandages and do blood workMike was able to take over his own stuff after about a week and he sent the home health aid packing! The PT came for about 3 weeksand then Mike was allowed to drive to outpatient PT. I just did what I could. My kids were wonderful as were friends who brought over many dinners.

Other services may be tiedinto income, but home health care is a matter of condition and need.Don't let them think that you are at home to take care of him. Make surethey know you are disabled and assume you're not even capable of thingsyou may be, but probably shouldn't be doing. That way you get lovingtime with him while others do some of the tasks.
