I don't understand why a diagnosis would require going off the diet? My

daughter

was diagnosed before went gfcf.

Thank you . I wish I had known how to go about the diet much ealier in

's life; good you started early. Had your child had any vaccinations?

Thanks again for sharing that.

Blessings,

We are lucky enough to have known Dr. Shaw's

research nurse. She is the one who he sent around to

all the different conferences when he couldn't make

it, and she did research studies into autism. My

mother is also a nurse and had worked with her

previously in a hospital, and they had kept touch. My

mother was telling her about 's severe

allergies (the only formula that he could tolerate was

Neocate, and I could not drink milk while

breastfeeding because it would make him throw up). He

had RSV when he was 2 weeks old and had to be

hospitalized, and had rotovirus twice by the time he

was 9 months old. My kids have never spent a day of

their lives in a daycare, so he was just picking this

stuff up in stores, etc. This nurse friend of my

mothers thought that his immunity problems and severe

allergies reminded her of the children that Great

Plains tests for peptide issues. Our pediatrician had

never even heard of the peptide issue, so this nurse

offered to do complementary peptide testing on him in

order to get to know our ped. and so forth. Turns out

that he had a huge peptide problem, and no, he wasn't

eating many solid foods yet, he had all those peptides

in his body due to the food that I was eating and

transferring to him through my breastmilk. I was

still eating milk products, but just not drinking milk

by the glass. We immediately went GFCF, and as he

grew older, we started to notice autistic tendencies.

He can be very aggressive at times, beats up his 5

year old brother (who is totally NT, by the way), head

butts, obsesses, etc. We do not have an autism

diagnosis, because he would not be diagnosed at this

point. It would require going off the diet and I am

just not willing to put him through that physical pain

just to have a physician tell me something that I

already know. I thank God that we were lucky enough

to start this early because even when things get tough

around here, all I have to do is think about how much

worse it could be, if we hadn't intervened early.
