Guest guest
Hi Donna, First off are you Dutch? My youngest daughter married a Dutchman named Meenk, and lives as close to Holland as you can get and still be in the US, Lynden, WA. Now for more than anyone one this list wanted to know about my hernia!! I've had this umbilical hernia for 10 yrs or so, and I've worn a girdle to hold it in as it got bigger, and also to support my apron which is quite large. I never had too much pain until the last several years, when I would get an achy feeling in the area of the hernia once in a long while, and then, less often, a sharp tearing feeling and so it has grown bit by bit in that way. I've chosen to wear a long legged panty girdle because the binders and trusses that I've had prescribed just ride up my hips and end up on my chest under my arms, lol. (I am a VERY pear shaped gal.) The girdle stays in the right place. So I had been going along like this with some intermittant discomfort and brief bouts of sharp pain and none of my PCPs thought that it was harmful. Then this July all of a sudden it got painful and red and achy a lot of the time; also I went from being regular, like clockwork every morning, no straining at all, to constantly constipated every morning with bowel cramping and discomfort a lot after meals. I have started to think I'm going to have to wear a girdle all night because of the pain. My PCP, Dr. Green, was concerned, this time, when I saw him on Oct. 1st, and ordered me a specially made binder/truss that the company will modify for me so it should stay on, but it hasn't arrived from Kansas City yet. Dr. Green was concerned that I make it through till I got seen by Dr. on Now. 27th and on through to a possible surgery date in Jan/Feb. But now ALL is changed!! I have already seen Dr. Welker and will have my Switch, hernia repair, and be home, if all goes well, before I even would have seen Dr. P. I feel soooo blessed!
