If you are going to be travelling in NYC by tains please leave alot of extra

time for delay's in the past several weeks the trains have kicked everyone off

because of " vague incidents " (and its at least a 45 mins before they resume the

service) This morning I got to work at 10:30 because of nothing that happened

at 59th Street yup nothing happened but paranoia level is high around here now a

days *shrugs*

you check out some of the Manhattan hotels. Many of them have

greatly reduced their prices because of the dip in tourism.

I've been over to Brooklyn a couple of times in the last month and

for some reason the weekend traffic is KILLER coming and going into

Manhattan and on the BQE (Brooklyn Queens Expressway). Wouldn't be

bad if you are taking the subway tho.(or you could drive in but I'd

only recommend that if you already know Manhattan, it's kinda crazy

right now).

Also, near NYU there is the Hotel Thirty Thirty located at 30th E.

30th Street between Madison and Park. The phone number is 212-689-

1900. They charge $80.00 a night for NYU patients but they might

also be reasonable for anyone else.

Another suggestion would be to stay in Westchester County. The

hotels are much cheaper and you could take the Metro North into the

city (or drive, again, if you dare, lol..I drive in but I know my way

around, I don't know what it would be like for someone who doesn't).

I'm in Bronxville and it's about a half hour train ride for me and

costs about 9 dollars round trip. You could check for hotels in

Yonkers, White Plains, etc.

Maybe someone from Brooklyn has more info than I do. Hope you have a

great trip!

Barbi,

I like your idea of staying outside the city and taking the Metro in. I had

previously stayed at a Residence Inn in White Plains and enjoyed it a lot.

I have a handicapped son (he's got a development disability (atypical

autism) along with schizophrenia), who will be coming to the area with me

when I get my surgery (along with his personal care attendant) so this might

be a more suitable housing arrangement for them. Could you give me some

specific directions on where the train station is, and all the related

connections that will get me to NYU?
