Hi , thank you so much! That really helps! Do you know how or when I

should make the appointment for the Chicago Convention? I appreciate it! Thanks

again,

Dr. H each time with what her thoughts are. 's case doesn't

sound super complicated, so I will tell you what Dr. H told families

last year.

She recommends that if a family lives far away from NY and can only

make one trip, and it would be to Chicago for the convention or to

NY to see her -- both in the timeframe of late June - early August --

she recommends that if the child is extremely complicated (meaning

the child has major GI issues, repeated hospitalizations, may

possibly need a g-tube urgently; may have repeated pneumonias,

etc.) -- this type of child would best be seen in NY if the family

had to choose between the two.

If a family has an SGA child that may be RSS, and the family either

already has a diagnosis or is looking for one; and the family is

seeking diagnosis confirmation; and is looking for advice on how to

get the child to gain weight and what treatment protocol Dr. H would

advice for their child -- THIS family is better off seeing Dr. H at

the convention in NY.

The reason why she says is simple: she spends about 4-5 hours

giving presentations on her treatment protocol, the results of kids

so far, there are other presentations on nutrition, puberty, etc.,

all that provide comprehensive information to the parents that she

can never give in a NY visit. Then in the 30-minute visit that she

has with your child (it is private, with closed curtains, and

comprehensive measuring equipment onsite), she will talk

specifically about your child. Each parent walks away from the

Chicago convention visit with a form that is filled out by Dr. H

with all of the information and she writes down her recommendations,

that you can take back to your local physicians.

I hope this helps answer your question about NY or Chicago.

It's really easy (I think). Once MAGIC's Chicago office receives a

family's convention registration form, they will mail the family a 2-

pg questionnaire for the Dr. H visit. You fill out the

questionnaire, and mail it to the address on the bottom (NOTE

EVERYONE: This year Meribeth Holec has graciously offered to take

over the scheduling for me, as the convention prep got to be too

large).

The convention officially begins on Thursday afternoon. However,

Dr. H begins seeing families on Tuesday from 9-9pm or so, and then

all day Wednesday same time, and then again all day Thursday.

Local families MUST see her on Tuesday. Families who have seen her

before at prior conventions and are NOT NY patients must see her

before 1pm on Thursday. And " firt-time " families -- we look at when

you can arrive. Visits are 30 minutes for new families, no matter

when you arrive. If you can arrive early to the convention, some

families like it better because Dr. H is not as tired, and it gives

you time to figure out the hotel, kids can swim, etc. Some families

arrive Wed morning, see Dr. H on Wednesday and then head into

downtown Chicago on Wed afternoon/evening and again on Thursday

(mini-vacation). The Navy Pier downtown is awesome, ferris wheel,

etc.

Hope this helps! But the first step is to register for the

convention. See you soon. Jenn
