Guest guest
Advice please....(yeah...again!) I am going on a shopping expedition to have all my supplements for at least one month post op. I know I need between 1600-2000 mg of calcium. I have a huge container of Calcium Carbonate with vit D, magnesium and zinc 333.4mg and I detest them. They are like horse pills and even cut in half I have trouble swallowing them. I will not be taking these! Now I have on my shopping list microcrystalline hydroapatite...cuz my goil Liane says its the best! Now is it true that your body can only absorb 600mg of calicum at a time? That means I would have to purchase more pills at lower doses and I am bad at taking pills all day long. I can religiously adhere to taking them twice a day. 3 times is tough, and I can guarantee 5 times will make me crazy! ok...so I need calcium...in some swallo-able form does this mean, then that I don't need to track down ADEKs or allergy A & D? I also need a good daily vitamin. I know my doctor would write me a script for prenatals, but they always made me sick when preggers. Then again, I was pregnant! Laughing Brands??? How many? I am peri menopausal, so do I need iron? Should I purchase my refrigerated lactobacillus acidophilus stuff now? (Thanks Judie! hugs) Fibre com? Should I get this now? and is a generic just as good? Would you recommend Potassium? I also have GNC Nurish hair on my list. Should i look at purchasing antacids over the counter now? I love the taste of Tums, but my stomach does not like them at all for some reason! pepto has always worked much better, but there is a lot of aspirin in it. Do any of you find that ordering online is a better way to go then shopping at healh food/drug stores? I'm sorry for all the silly questions. My doctor gave me a real tiny list of stuff to purchase, and I just find that the post ops know best and have been through it all. If anyone is willing to recommend brand names...especially knowing that I have a bummer of time swallowing large pills, it would really help. Oh, and I haven't ignored all your wonderful posts in the past. I actually have a binder of them. The one thing most didn't comment on was how large the pills were, and if any of the pills they took caused any gastric distress at the beginning and they switched to something else. Thanks to all of you for letting me impose on you! Hugs as always, Theresa 11-19 P.S. Wait til you get my protein post!
