<< Hi - Sorry to hear of your problem. Yes, it could be a hernia and I

suggest taking it easy. When will you be coming back to N>Y>? When you do,

I would go to the emergency room and check this out. My friend has very bad

problems from a hernia and she had the DS and has to have surgery. It caused

her alot of pain all around and it wasn't a blockage but it was not a good

situation. Please let us know how you are doing and maybe put in a call to

Dr. Gagner as an emergency to discuss this if you won't be home soon.

Ellen)Pam: Thanks for your concern... thank God I took a muscle relaxant and

the pain went away (I just took one at night - not continuing the usage,

etc.). I think it was my spastic colon and a TERRIBLE attack at that. The

other time I had it so bad was when I went to the gastro-enterologist in the

first place, had all kinds of tests (including a colonoscopy in which my

colon 'grabbed his instrument' and wouldn't let it go! That's spastic colon

for ya! LOL) and was diagnosed. Come to think of it, he did give me

anti-spasmodic meds at the time but I got off them pretty quickly and hadn't

needed to take them for a whole year until now! Sheesh!

I will check up with Dr. G about the possibility of a hernia -- I don't feel

anything out of sorts, but I don't think all hernias can be 'felt'???? I am

totally pain-free now and my abdomen isn't tender at all. I was going to

contact Dr. G about this if it didn't subside with the muscle relaxant...

all the best,
