Sounds like bait and switch to me, of the most offensive type - because, after all, this is your life and lifestyle and life choices we are talking about here, not a different TV or dishwasher!!!! Why did the surgeon wait until TWO days before to spring this on the patient? So she wouldn't have time to change surgeons? Sounds suspect to me. If we (the collective " we " here and " me " specifically) didn't care about our after surgery life-style, why would we even be on this list? Why would we even be doing any research? We CARE Big Time. That is why we are here. That is why we feel compelled to warn someone BEFORE surgery. It is too late after surgery. >> Carole: These are my feelings exactly. I know Dr. Ren has considered a similar situation (only performing the BPD over the DS), BUT the patients had been informed beforehand (before their consult even) and came to the list informing everyone about this. I really would ask WHY Dr. waited until the consult, when the patient traveled there long distance (I believe LeAnne is not from Portland) to inform her of this. I think this is what everyone who responded has been the most concerned about. all the best, lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 Dr. Gagner/Mt.
