Guest guest
Thanks Ken. I had heard of sensory integration mentioned by his psychologist only once but I never researched it or heard any more about it. He has a lot of stuff listed there, he only wears one kind of socks, 3 pants, certain shirts depending on the day,(if clothes don't fit right, he would hit himself and act like he was going to lose it) pulled his hair out because it drove him crazy, so it is now really short! food issues from 6 mos..only eats certain foods at certain temps and textures or will throw them up. . one pair of shoes that took hours to find......among many other emotional/behavioral issues. thanks, i'll have to get the psychologist to look more into it. definitly something to look into. > > > > HI everyone. Guest guest
Hi Conny, My son, , age 8, has just been determined to possibly have mild aspergers. We went to Woods Hospital in NJ to have him evaluated by Dr. Seshadri. She indicated that she feels there are so many variations to how kids display Aspergers. One list of traits will not fit all kids. I have always had a suspicion that part of 's RSS and lack of appetite reflects a sort of " isolationist " personality. So, on top of the hormone issues contributing to RSS, my bet is that in some kids the Asperger's also contributes to the lack of appetite and lack of interest in feeding....just a thought! I am not discouraged, however. Go here to a fabulous website showing famous people who probably have Aspergers!!!!! Included in the list are: Al Gore, , Bob Dylan, Bill Gates! http://myautis.com/famousaspies.html Katy RSS Division Co-Consultant MAGIC Foundation Mom to -- In RSS-Support , " colson45 " <colson45@e...> wrote: > > I know an asperger's child and he certainly does have eye contact and > is affectionate and is not monotonal so I am not sure that that is an > accurate decription. Guest guest
Hi. It's funny that you mention the lack of appetite and lack of interest in feeding to the asperger's because I have wondered that myself with my son Skye non RSS (from the original posting). The docs so far can't figure out what is going on with him size wise also...he is 6 1/2 yrs. 42 1/2 inches and 35 lbs (not a familial stature/weight) he has not gained weight in over 6 mos and he does not care to eat and what he can eat is very limited. He throws up stuff, cant handle many textures, wrong temperature and overall is not hungry. Two crackers w/ a smear of pb will fill him for hours, that's practically all he eats and I've always wanted to know if his size/weight is related to everything else because everything seems to be interconnected. Now, unlike my RSS daughter, he did eat better as a baby and it began to go downhill after age one. It's ironic, I have more problems with him and food than I do with Autumn. He even throws up his favorite food when it's not right while chewing. He is what I call an eat to survive child (I am survive to eat!) he only eats barely enough to get by, and that's a hassle!. Thanks for the 'thought'. It would make perfect sense in our situation. I wonder if that could be affecting his height too. mom to Autumn, Skye, Ocean and baby on the way > > > > > > > > Have you checked out the definition for aspergers syndrome?
