Guest guest
Beth, I take the tabs (littel tabs) and got them from the pharmacist at Wal Mart in his refrigerator.....I take 4 a day.....thats it. In a week Im cutting down to 2 a day to see if that works well. Mike takes 2 and it works well for him so far but we both take different kinds. Mine is refrigerated and is called: Lactinex and Mikes is Sundown and caplets. Both seem to work well even though one is refrigerated and one isnt.... What a blessing not to have to smell such a strong smell anymore! (you get a whiff but nothing like it was lol) Hugs, Judie
Guest guest
Judie, thanks for the info! I'm hoping that the acidopholis will help with gas and diarrhea. Also, the menu was great! you're right, I've got to be patient. I was eating quite a bit for about a week, and now I barely feel like eating, and when I do, I've got a lot of discomfort. Everyday is so different! Can't wait till things even out. Guest guest
Beth, Let me share something with you.......when a week after surgery had passed I could not stand anything that was protein. I think it was becuz I was thinking in terms of how I ate on the Atkins diet and of course, I got so sick of eating that way and not having things I really liked, like fruit etc. I thought to myself " what in the hell have I done now? " It was a really depressing thing to think that I would now have to eat proteins that at the time I absolutly hated! Rabecca, who had her surgery in Spain in June helped me thru that rotten time. She explained if I used the protein in another way my mind would probably accept it better so I began eating things like baked potato with a little chili on it with grated cheese for dinner! By the time I got down to the potato I didnt eat much as I was too full from the cheese and the chili which by the way was 20 grams of protein in just the chili alone! Same thing with chef salads....by the time you get done with the meat and cheese you are too full for the lettuce. This was tricking my mind into eating exactly what I didnt want to eat! Then, 3 weeks later I was eating proteins as if they were my favorite foods! Amazing how the mind works in tune with the surgery! Now.......i absolutly love proteins and they always come first with me.....automatically and without thinking. Its the first thing I look for when opening the ref door! Gas........oh boy. another problem that can make you very uncomforable. I found that the acidophilus works wonders now and I think you find that to be true also. Give it a few days......3-4 days to work and I bet it starts working for you well with a day. Every day is different for me too, STILL! I hate ice cream and that may never change. I ate that stuff almost every day prior to surgery. It has to be a miracle that I dont like it anymore! But.....i still eat some candy every day. Today I had a slice of boston creme pie (company came for lunch and they brought desert) But I would never buy it myself. It was good but not something I would miss today. You are still so very new....new tummy, new sensations, new likes and dislikes......it all takes time to sort itself out. Thats why its called a journey! <g> You are doing just fine and will continue to do well as the days and weeks go by. Before long you will be telling me that you are now eating like I am!! Remember.......eat what you want and what appeals to you (just not too much junk lol) The surgery works! and the acidophilus will help cut way down on the gas and make life more tolerable for you.....I guarantee it! Guest guest
AJ....ask the pharmacist for his refrigerated acidophlis....I think it cost me $9.00 for 50 of them but Im taking them 4 a day and will taper off to 2 a day and see what happens. Maybe might even see if there is a cheaper brand but Im almost convinced you get what you pay for....... Mike takes Sundown brand and it works well for him and costs less too.
