Hello..

My daughter Madeline (age 9) started GH on March 3rd. Prior to her

starting GH she had been prone to headaches.. She would have them in

the afternoon when I would pick her up from school – usually her

after school snack seemed to do the trick.. The headaches were not

chronic but more occasional (although more frequent then I would

expect for a 9 year old child).

Now going into our 5th week of GH Madeline is experiencing more

severe painful headaches. These headaches started about two weeks

ago and seemed to be a product of a virus that she was fighting

off. I took her to the doctor (thinking it might be strep throat)

and she tested negative. The doctor said that there was a virus

going around that was producing headaches, stomachaches, and fever…

This seemed to fit Madeline's description and so we treated her with

this in mind.

We are now about a week past any type of fever and signs of this

virus… Last night Madeline had a horrible headache – where I thought

that I might have to take her into the emergency room. It seemed to

get better within one hour of giving Motrin.. I called the Endo

clinic this morning to talk to the nurse about what Madeline was

experiencing… She suggested that we take her to the doctor to have

him look into her eyes to be sure there was not any pressure on the

optic nerve.. We have an appointment this afternoon.

My question is this.. Has anyone experienced severe headaches with

GH? The nurse told me today that if it were swelling of the brain

that the headaches would be more chronic and not get better with

Motrin… Does anyone have any thoughts on this… I have never seen

Madeline in this much pain.. The headaches seem to be mostly in the

evening and she seems to get along during the day just fine…

Any advise is greatly appreciated!!

Sincerely,

Jenni Vetter
