Guest guest
hahhha- I feel like a girrafe---it is getting better thoguh--I am postin ganother picture I took this morning. Not as bad....as far as the mashed potatoes---very small bits on a fork...coudln't get the spoon in. as far as lobster-that was a big challenge, but I was determined. I minced it really small and stirred it up with melted butter and tamale and put little pieces on a fork. I do not have a splint--what is that? I hear quite a few talking aboutit. Maybe that is why I am having an easier time...are you posting a new picture soon? SHer > Sher, > > Mashed potatoes and lobster??? DROOOOLLLLL. How did you do it? Guest guest
Ah ha! No splint! That is the secret to your eating success then. Lucky lucky you. A splint is sort of like one of the plastic mugs boxers put into their mouth pre-boxing fight. Mine is wired around my top teeth. It sort of works like a jigsaw puzzle in that everytime I bite down it directs me to wear I should be biting down. If it feels strange I know that I haven't fit the puzzle properly and so I bite down again. Unfortunately it makes chewing and eating really hard and so I guess I'll just stick to cream of wheat and creme caramel for another week. I am praying that my surgeon will decide to take off the splint before I leave for Italy on the 30th. Everyone, please keep me in your thoughts. I don't know what I will do if I have to fly home and do interviews with this stupid thing in my mouth. I plan to post another picture of me tomorrow when I'm at the 2 week post-op mark. I'm going to check out your photo now my dear giraffe friend:-) Sara
Guest guest
Sher, You look really great! I surely don't see no giraffe in that picture. You are so funny. I actually have a giraffe stuffed animal sitting on my desk at work. (I got it from a cheeseburger kids meal from 's that my coworkers made fun of me getting) So now everytime I see that giraffe I am going to think of you..(haha) See, I knew there was a reason for getting that kids meal from 's.. (haha) Keep up the good work! > > Sher, > > > > Mashed potatoes and lobster??? DROOOOLLLLL. How did you do it? Guest guest
Sara, you'll do fine, whatever. Actually, the splint may give the folks who interview you a bit of a distraction. You can explain why you talk like thylvethter, that you've juth had jaw thurgery, and that all will be better when the thplint ith removed. And that you are eager to meet them, tho came along, thplint and all, jutht tho they'd have an idea of who you are. That'th if your thplint doeth to you what my thplint did to me. Cammie > Ah ha! Guest guest
Sher Home health care sure should provide some services. I don't know your plans but in a situation like this it is quite normal to go from the hospital to some form or rehab and skilled nursing center. They can help with all the forms of rehab. Then that pretty well makes home health care after that easy to get too. They can help with continued rehab, checking of vitals, and administering medications but the key is that by having some nursing care through them you qualify for some aide assistance as well. Please look at all those resources to lessen the burden on yourself and your family. > > > > Thanks ever so much for > telling me about the group you started. Guest guest
Geeta...Rich is having a defibrillator put in on Nov. 3. Cardio and PCP both say his heart is bad enough now that something needs to be done. He is a candidate for Cardiac Arrest and if he should have one it's no doubt fatal. He's anxious to get it done. Me too! Cardio says his life will be extended 20 years or so but at 10 years they probably will change the battery! lol. My grandaughter is having a rough time time. She has Crohn's disease and went into the hospital to have a 3 inch piece of the intestine removed near the ilium by lapascropy, That went well, but the next day she was in terrific pain. The surgeon then did an open surgery, from the top to the bottom. The reconnection had been badly done and she was bleeding so much that the whole stomach space was filled with blood. For the moment she is doing fine although she isn't moving around much. She's in Virginia and it tears me up that I can't there to be with her. Guest guest
Thank you for your concern. I do have a nephrologist for my kidneys. I was told to make an appointment with him but I haven't. I think that once I am fully weaned of the prednisone my diabetes will go away again and my kidney problem should get better. I have so many doctors and the specialists are all a long ways away. I have to get Bob to take me and unless he has to go for something I have to give him gas money. He never used to take it but he was hurt badly in the stock market and timber is selling so cheap that it would cost him more to have it cut than he could get out of it. He has a lot of timber but things are so bad around here that most of the mills have had to close.I am going to have to get appointments late enough in the day that I can stay at my daughter's and leave from there. I'm lucky at least that my children live over there. Bob even told me that he doesn't know if he can take me in April. I depend on him. I just have to get moved.I am feeling better. Yesterday I cleaned my bathroom. I have to do it slowly but I can get it done.Beverley Joy,71,PF 1-09, Chronic HP, birds and mold 12-09,Sjogren's,Fibromyalgia Idaho From: Sher <bofus6 (AT) verizon (DOT) net>Subject: Re: (unknown)To: Breathe-Support@ yahoogroups. comDate: Sunday, January 31, 2010, 12:16 PM BJ.... in my opinion, your pulmodude telling you he didn't think he "could get him" is so lame! Dr's have the inside track when they call. (usually). I am only being compliant with Dr. Raghu...he knows my feelings about it and we talked about it. So I'll give it 3 months. To do nothing can't be an option for me... even if I am dead set (whoops, wrong word!) against prednisone, I feel inclined to use it if Raghu Rxs when he knows I don't like taking it. BJ... here is the email for /Carolyn. Send to them both. (send to one, cc the other). cspada@... .edu or jmhayes@... n.edu they are both Dr. Raghu's assistant. They can take a msg to him and get back to you. He should know you are not taking the prednisone as Rx. I'm sure sorry your Diabetes flared up and then kidney trouble. Raghu can help you with the nasty side effects if he knows. I can't see Raghu UNHAPPY about a patient. He is apt to be surprised if you aren't on anything, though. It seems it's hell if we do and hell if we don't. (Like prednisone for me). I've been on cpap for a number of years and didn't suspect that could be the cause of the SOB that's been getting worse for quite a while. I naturally thought I am "being treated" for apnea.... I'm not sure but I think Rich was told the summer rate would be $92. But that would be before any discounts, senior or otherwise. I'm going to call tomorrow and find out for sure. We'll be going again in May. I'll let you know. MamaSher; IPF 2006; Cellular NSIP, PH, 2009, OR,.Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there!
