Guest guest
, Peggy gives you a really great suggestion here. You can't go wrong with pursed lip breathing. I would further suggest that you ask your pulmonologist to write you a prescription or in some other way set up an appointment or two with a respiratory therapist. Since you are mostly in a wheelchair, pulmonary rehab is probably not an option at the moment but an RT can teach you breathing exercises tailored to your situation and give you techniques to minimize shortness of breath when you are trying to do the things you need to do. I would also either ask your doctor for an incentive spirometer or order one yourself. This simple inexpensive device exercises your lungs and encourages the maximum expansion on the inhale cycle. Hope some of that helps!
