Guest guest
I'm also a slow eater. Along with Hillary, I am always the last one at the table. However, eating slowly is not a bad thing necessarily. The more one chews the food, the better it will digest. I think this is true for adults at least. Again, I don't eat much at one sitting either. However, the United States food portions in restaurants are too big anyway. I'm sure it's difficult to look ahead, but I weighed 2 pounds, 14 ounces at birth. I didn't have a feeding tube or any medication. My mom had a horrible time feeding me and she had to feed me every two hours. She had a really rough time. I was really, really skinny until I hit puberty (now I have some nice hips!). While I was skinny, I was still an active child and I didn't eat as much as other kids, because I didn't need to. My mother was also treated disrespectfully when I was born. I just want to emphasize, that yes I was really, really thin, but I was basically healthy. I gained weight later and if I don't watch what I eat now it would be easy for me to gain weight. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. We live in a fast paced society...but working fast, eating fast, not getting enough sleep and so on is not healthy. I ate slowly, I grew slowly, I didn't walk until I was two or so. It took forever for me to lose my first tooth...but slow is not necessarily bad and I made it. If your child is healthy and active, that is the most important thing...in my opinion. I'm not a doctor, I'm just speaking from my own experience. My intention is not to offend anyone or to seem like I don't understand or to minimize what you're going through...I just want to say that there is hope!
