Guest guest
Bill i agree, learning about transplant is very interesting -- did you see the lung inflate on the TV show the other night -- it was amazing -- really exciting for me to see that when i met with the surgeon, he described the incision -- just a couple of inches -- there i was trying to visualize how they would get a lung in and out of such a small incision -- then he said that they deflate (i think that's the term) the lungs -- so then it made sense what does UPA stand for? University of Pennsylvania A.... what's the "A" actually Penn is referred to as HUP -- hospital of the Univeristy of Pennsylvania Pink Joyce R (IPF 3/06) IFA 5/09 Pennsylvania Donate Life Listed 1/09 Inactive 4/09 www.transplantfund.org--- Subject: Re:Transplant Recipient Death and herpesTo: Breathe-Support Date: Tuesday, October 13, 2009, 8:33 AM I'm in the process of being listed at UPA in Philadelphia, and they told me that over half the people in the U.S. have one particular blood disorder that's technically a form of herpes and that most don't even know about it. The doc said that since I don't have it, and since having it would increase the chances of rejection of a lung, that when it comes time, I would be asked to decide if I wanted to go ahead with it, if the donor was one who had it. Otherwise I could wait for another one. I found that to be pretty interesting. Actually, this is all pretty interesting.
