I haven't gone for a blood test since starting the scd. I should have done it right away but I didn't. Now I feel like I need to see where I am. Is there a specific test I need to ask for or specific things I need tested. B12, iron, d... What else?michelle

Hi ,I imagine that what tests you get should be based on trouble issues that your medical diagnosis would cause. Do you have CD, UC, IBS?I have Crohn's and this is what my doctor ordered for me last time I was in:

IRON

AND TIBC (TOTAL IRON BINDING CAPACITY)ELECTROLYTES,

SERUMCREATININE,

SERUM, WITH GLOMERULAR FILTRATION RATEVITAMIN

D, 25-HYDROXYCRP

(C-REACTIVE PROTEIN), SERUMCBC

(COMPLETE BLOOD COUNT) WITHOUT DIFFERENTIALWHITE

BLOOD CELL DIFFERENTIAL, AUTOMATED I also had a thyroid test done, but I think that's because it runs in my family and I had some abnormalities in the past. I don't think that has anything to do with Crohn's.

Also, Elaine talks about malabsorption in BTVC (starts on page 64 in the newest version) and goes on to talk about what normal vitamin levels should be. Try reading that before you talk to you doc. Hope this info helps.
