When it comes to the insurance company keep all that knowledge of yours to yourself!!!!! Takes a lot of self control!! You of all people say " I don't know what it is called " LOL Dawn--South Suburban Chicago area Dr. Hess, Bowling Green, OH >> Well, Dawn, I thank you so much for clueing me in on this. I know I would have opened my BIG mouth and touted the wonderfulness of DS had I not been warned by you and seconded on the warning by Chris! It was kind of fun to play the " airhead " and I figured, probably most people would be like that " duh, its weight loss surgery, I don't know what its called! " so I figured she would " buy it " and she did! Of course, had I not been lucky enough and guided by angels to know about DS, and found this list, I sure would not have the knowledge I have!! A friend of mine told me it was a " God thing " that I was guided to the DS and I agree! Otherwise, I would have gone to the RNY local meeting and been totally depressed to find out I'd have to eat by the thimble-full of chewed up baby-food like foods for the rest of my life. I even told my Mom today the difference between the 2 surgeries because she was going to see a woman who has a friend who had wls and I told my Mom if she had it in Cleveland, it was the RNY because no one here does the DS and then I told her about the differences. I told her how RNYers gain weight back and she said she heard this woman was gaining weight back - and when I told my Mom about chewing up food till its baby food she was horrified! I told her so she wouldn't fall for any " Oh don't let your daughter have the DS, there is so much Malabsorption with that " line, just in case she got it. Right now she is just going along with my decision for this surgery, but I don't want her to start stressing too much over it!
