Guest guest
Hi, everyone. I had a terrible night. It was the worst gas attack ever. It was frightening because I'm almost 9 months out and really have had such a smooth recovery. When I had bad gas before (painful), it would last 1-2 hours at the most. This one is still with me. It started out as a spastic colon espisode (focused on my lower right abdomen), but spread to my entire intestines! Yikes! I took some Maalox and thought it would subside. It was with me all night long. When I woke up my abdomen was (and still is) so tender. Now, the two possible suspects in terms of what I ate were: Cinnamon/hazelnut coffee (I had a large cup and usually drink a small cup) -- last time I had cinnamon buns I had a bad reaction but I thought that was due to the fact I ate too many (even though they were 'mini buns' LOL). I also had an instant noodle (I've had these before but this was a brand I hadn't tried in years). Now, could it be the cinnamon (which I've been told can be caustic in large doses - maybe I'm just extremely sensitive to it?) or some artificial flavoring/preservative in the noodles? Has anyone else had this kind of extreme, painful reaction to similar things??? I also thought about blockage - but I've been able to go (more than usual LOL) and haven't had any urge to throw up. I'm keeping things down without any problem. I'll keep a watch on that, though. If I were in NYC, I would go to Mt Sinai ER but I'm here in Traverese City, MIchigan (upper northwest MI) and I don't think an ER doctor would have any clue about what symptoms would be, etc. If it gets worse I'll go to the ER for sure and hand him that emergency card with Dr. Gagner's number on it... Hope it doesn't come to that! It really feels like extreme muscles have been pulled in my lower abdomen (my upper abdomen is ok today). It hurts when I cough or move suddenly. HERNIA? I lifted a tv two days ago... but didn't feel any discomfort or pain until last night? Now the pain seems to be centered on my colon area --- ouch! It was so sudden and quite unexpected. I'd been feeling so fabulous and this has thrown me for a loop! all the best, lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 Dr. Gagner/Mt. Sinai/NYC almost 9 months post-op and still feelin' fabu 98 pct of the time (not today or yesterday, man! LOL) preop: 307 lbs/bmi 45 now: 213 (?) Guest guest
Since I am definitely not a medical professional, I think this needs looking into. You might just have a flu bug but with that much pain and soreness I would definitely be calling some doctor or???? franki *********** REPLY SEPARATOR *********** > >It really feels like extreme muscles have been pulled in my lower abdomen (my >upper abdomen is ok today).
