This is from an almost pre-op so I have no idea if I qualify to say

anything to this issue. I have been researching a whole lot. One thing I

remember is that this is a tool. One that actually works but there is

still a lot of work to do from there. This I know will be one of my areas

too. I have spent years and years slowly changing my eating habits. Of

course, I have many breakthroughs (imperfect behavior).

I just want to encourage you to keep it up. This is why you took the risk

of this surgery. To give you a chance that actually works, even if you

still have to make the changes. It gets so discouraging as we all know to

make the changes and have nothing happen which is where we have all been.

Now, you get the chance to make the change and it will work!!! Still hard,

but hope filled.

Stick in there,

i

I thought that before, but its not really alot of work...I personally think

its easier than anything I've done in the past (once you get past the actual

surgery). I don't crave food anymore, I dont overeat and sit here feeling

sick all night, I dont obsess over food during the day, I dont plan dinner at

breakfast like I'm not going to get enough to eat. I just don't miss food,

maybe because I eat what I want (after protein) and just enjoy my food,

instead of feeling gross everytime I eat.

While I understand this is a tool, the rules have changed a bit.

What we eat and how much and in what proportion matters now. I still

have that old diet mentallity that Low Fat is better and limit your

protien and fats, and that salads and some carbs are the best diet,

however both give me terrible gas (well you wanted to share). So now

I focus on protien, but how much is enough? Is too much bad too? I

have a longer sleeve than most (or so I have been told) so I can

probably eat more than most of you, I estimate that I can eat about 9

oz depending on what it is. I still eat snacks occaisionally but it

always seems like a phase. I get a craving for ice cream for a bit,

then it goes away. I have a lot of food go bad in my refridgerator.

I know I eat much less than I was before. I know I am losing weight,

but what if it stops. What do I do with my eating habits? I'm just

working through this " what do I eat tonight " issue. I love protien,

but am running out of ideas how to make it palatable. I still don't

think there is a consensus on what we absorb and what we don't. I

have heard differing philosophies on here and then have to keep in

mind that everyone is different, so if I follow one idea, it might

not be the right one for me. I watch people who had surgery the same

time as I did losing more than I do and I wonder if that is because

of my stomach size or something else. I know I am only 5.5 months

out, but as I read the group, I realize this is a common thought.

Thanks for listening

woah, - congrats to you! That's WOnDERFUL! I'm almost at the 100 lbs

out at over eight months out, so we're almost at the same place...

I'm so glad to hear that you're feeling much better after having gone through

an initial adjustment period.
