Guest guest
I know the stomach goes back to normal, but I am counting on behavioral changes in this surgery simply because it is impossible to eat as much...please help....!!>>>>>>>>>> The stomach doesnt go back to the size it was before. Remember, you have about 75-80% of it removed. It will stretch a bit to allow you to eat more in order to not continue losing at the rate you did in the beginning. When you are not able to eat as much you learn some good habits along the way. Since we are to eat proteins first and always first , we get into the habit of doing that. Then of course is the water and lots of it. By the time your stomach can hold more you have developed better eating habits. At least this is how it happened for me. Guest guest
Hi I guess I should have prefaced what I said with my personal experience...I have failed at just about every diet because my mentality was that there was bad food. Which was usually the kind of food I liked that and the small portions made it impossible for me to stick to any diet plan. Now when I get a case of the head hunger I realize that I am not on a diet. Yes there are some bad foods but I can eat pretty much normal things (i.e. I am not on the carrot & peas diet) So now when I am full I know I am full on food and food that I enjoy. And the best part is that I can have more of this food when I am hungry there arent any forbidden foods. And that is what I meant by I go and do something else because I know that if I continued to eat I would get sick....I now tell myself if you want to eat the portion there is always later so go and do something else until later...I hope I explained myself a bit better I can sometimes really ramble. Thanks for bearing with me. Lisbeth Hawkins wrote: Regarding overeating, this is the kind of post that really offers the type of information I am concerned abou tmost -- long term issue. What I hope is not just what Lisbeth said below -- that " you know you don't want it so go play or whatever " -- I am hoping what happens is " you know you CAN'T put it in there so don't eve think about it. " This is a very serious question for me!! Is it true that I will not be able to eat as much for a long while, or am I fooling myself ?? I thought I was crazy because I too have done this continued to think about food like that. I think its a chemical thing for me I equate it with being like an addict....For me food was my addiction I used it to feel good...Now when I have those feelings I say to myself... It will stretch a bit...but not like it was before surgery. I think you are thinking you have to be forced to change your ways...and I have to say at 2 1/2 months out...it isnt that you dont eat different, its that you eat different and not as much. What you can't do ...is overeat without getting sick. What you can't do is keep stuffing it in all night. I have caught myself trying to eat in my old patterns and I see they dont come up as much because I am just not able to do it...so slowly I have watched myself get into a much better eating pattern. You don't have to suffer to make a better life...look at ...she did fantastic and eats like a regular person.
