Guest guest
We are getting a helmet for E. on Thursday--it is a passive helmet, and from what I've heard around here, that's the only type made anywhere near here. As it is, our doctor and the helmet place are 2 1/2 hours from our house. My son has mild plagiocephaly, and the doctor and tech think we'll get good results with it-- Insurance *might* cover it; they haven't decided yet. But the left side of his face is distorted and he's 6 1/2 months old, hasnt' corrected itself, so DH and I decided we would look at it like braces and suck up the cost if needed. Sigh. He has torticollis that is improving a lot, but I am trying to switch physical therapists because our current one doesnt' seem to be taking it very seriously-- Anyway--all of a sudden, I'm getting very emotional about not being able to rub his little fuzzy head against my cheek all day after Thursday so I'm hoping this goes smoothly and quickly and that he doesn't have to wear it long. One question--we live in AL where it will probably be 90-100 degrees with 100% humidity the whole time he will be helmeted--any tips to keep cool? Any ideas on where to get clip-on fans? Any reassurance that he'll be able to deal with the heat????? Thanks- Betsy
Guest guest
Betsy, I live in Birmingham, AL. My son has been in his helmet since April 17. We is doing really well. One of the things I am doing is put rompers on him. Our tech also told us to not put shoes on him, so his heat will be redirected. He is doing really well. He also has a mild case with torticolis. He is responding to the helmet amazingly. He has gone from 12 mm asymetery to 6 mm in less than a month!
