Vitamix makes superior mayonnaise, superior mustard, and spectacular smoothies and blended soups. It's not a substitute for a food processor. Among other things, it's hard to scrape all your mayo, mustard or other thick stuff out of the bottom. I like it much better than my beloved old Oster which finally succumbed to 7 years of SCD. Unless you want to add significant amounts of oils to your nut butters, I don't think it does them very well. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
Guest guest
Debbie,The Vitamix is fantastic for nutbutters! I was trying to say that it isn't good at making nut FLOURS. I definitely would not give up my food processor for my Vitamix. They do different things well. The Vitamix is great for making really smooth whatever -- nut butter, nut based pancake batter, fresh soups, smoothie/milkshake/instant ice cream, and the like. I like my food processor for grating large quantities of things like carrots/zucchini, nut based muffin batter and such, fishcake mixtures, salsa, pesto, etc. -- more control over how small the chunks are when 'chopping' or making chunky things. Hope that helps.AmeliaTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Thu, May 6, 2010 11:10:05 AMSubject: Re: nut flour & soaking On the topic of Vitamix. How are they in general?
