Guest guest Posted July 7, 2009 Report Share Posted July 7, 2009 The idea is that the band loses strength and integrity after 6 months, so the holding points aren't as strong and it is not as effective. Also, STARBand is only recommended up to 18 months of age, so it really just depends on the ortho you are working with (some don't follow protocol to the letter). 12 months is still young enough to see some good growth I would imagine. I would have loved to have banded my son then, rather than at 17 months like we did. 6 months is a long time, hopefully you'll get all the correction you need in that time. Good luck!
