Dear Carey,

I am glad to hear overall things are going well with your son. My

daughter had been in her band for a week and it is a little loose too.It does

slide around a little when lying down or eating too. Yes, I too feel guilty

about her having to wear a helmet, she is such a great baby. But like you said,

I think it bothers me more than it bothers her!! My daughter was never fond of

tummy time and now likes it even less too, but I am hoping she will get used to

it. She doesn't roll over too often either because she hates to end up on her

stomach, I am hoping the band won't hinder her rolling over, but I doubt it! She

sits up beautifully on her own, so I guess she may never take to rolling over!

Keep us posted on your progress!!

Good Luck,

Mom to McKenna 6 months

Hi Carey,

We're in SF and we go to UCSF for our 5 month old's Starband. We're on day 8 and it took all week to get the helmet just right. Everything you mentioned about your little one adjusting is what we've experienced too: the sweating, the on and off cries, etc. But he's doing well and doesn't even seem to remember that he has the band on.

Anyway, good luck!

Well, it's day 3 and things seem to be going well for our 6 month oldson. We are being seen in Oakland, CA (referred by Kaiser). Hedoesn't seem to mind the band much. The only time it seems to bug himis putting the band on or taking it off. I have noticed that he's notcrazy about tummy time anymore with it on, but I am happy to reportthat the band has not kept him from rolling around (which I wasn'tsure if it would set him back or not). The head sweating seems tocome and go. I do have a few concerns - (1) the band seems a little loose? Like itshifts a bit in his sleep or when I am breastfeeding him. He def.looks like he's got some room to grow in it, which I assume is normal? The tech took a fair amount of time checking out the fit, etc. and Ihave to trust he knows what he's doing :) I was just curious if thiswas normal? (2) Him sleeping in it freaks me out a bit. He's beensleeping on his tummy mostly now - and seems to sleep face down -totally freaks me out!! Some friends of ours let us borrow their AngelCare monitor which I started using tonight. Last night was his firstnight wearing the band and I checked on him a gazillion times I think!!All in all, I think the whole thing stresses me out more than him. Ihave so much guilt about it all - I assume that's fairly normal as well :)--CareyNo. California, Starband on 10/14/08 Stay organized with simple drag and drop from Windows Live Hotmail. Try it
