Guest guest
It was hard for me at first too. It helped to actually go to a PT so I could see exactly how the exercises were done, so then I knew I was doing them right and wasn't worried that I was hurting him (more than the exercise did itself). My son didn't like them either, but the more you do them, the more stretched out they get and the less they will hurt. Our PT showed us different ways we could carry him too and that didn't bother him as much (I can't even try to describe it, but I can email you pictures of it if you want). Also, we did a lot of time on an exercise/stability ball. You prop them on their tummy and it forces them to use their neck and head to stabilize, and you use toys to encourage her to turn her head. Again I can send you pictures (I'm an avid scrapbooker, so I actually took pictures of my son in PT to scrapbook about it - didn't seem weird at the time, but sounds funny admitting it now!). You're not traumatizing her. Exercises and tears now will make it so that you don't have any long term issues down the road, so it's better to just do it as many times as you can and just get through it the best you can. Good luck! Jake-2.5 (DOCBand Grad 9/08) Jordan-5 > > Also...How do some of you feel about the exercises making our babies cry? I know some of you said that there are PT's that can suggest exercises that do not make them cry, some of you said that some babies just cry...that you have babies that do not like them either. I am afraid that I have traumatized our daughter...it is making me literally sick thinking about how terribly she has screamed at times. I am going to lay off of them a bit, or do them very mildly until I see a specialist. Here's is my question....Does anyone else feel like this? And do you think it is traumatizing for them? I have been doing them with her screaming for 3 weeks. > Thanks. > Lilah >
