Guest guest
i have a feeling that this canpainy had something to do with the fact that they did not test last year. my school district is split in two the bigger town is about 5,ooo people and our town is about 500 lebanon has pre-k throught 12 and ld and even bd in fact we get many of the other towns problem kids in lebanon if you would like to know more about lebanon look up mckendree collage it is pretty famouse like first collage is southern illinio. but anyway in summerfield where ilive it is part of the same school districe we have k-5 here and only one ld room to serve the whole of summerfield school. this class only formed for the first time last school year so going into next year it will be in its thired year. as a teacher you know your children can't be more then 4 years apart. so i don't think summerfield pushes this issue due to the fact that would mean they would end up shipping these kids inthere younger years off to lebanon.did that make cence i hope it did so that give you background. witch bring me to how this year works i don't know how max is with change in his ruetin but jacob is horrid it really throughs him if you know what i mean. when we had our first meading to deturman what would happen to jacob per his class till t he end of the year. it was discussed to place him is lebanon where he know almost no kids much less there rutin their. because this was his second year in this class of first gread same teacher he knew her and the matieral so he was standing at a b avarage so i said we work onthe little things until the end if the year then next year wicth i know he will fall flat they could send him to all day ld room. i really feel this is best for him he does so much better in smaller setting and more one on one and he loves this ld teacherhe forget alot of stuff but he never forget her class time so we have a meading with her to see what next year will bring i hope we are alll looking out for the same thing for jacob. small slow morestrucher and more one on one will do him great good. i fact at the first iep we have the speach teacher witch had him all year thought we were all nuts as to how we thought he behaved and preformed. she did not get this with him well of course not she has like 5 kids at a time and is really one on one this just proves my point i am really looking forword to seeing how the ld teacher is boing with him and how well or not he si doing in his class time with her sorry so lond but i thought it would make more cence if i gave you a pic of how our distric is if i need more advice i will surly be wighting back to you cara mom to jacob thanks Jodi Zwain wrote: Cara, Just be careful with the reeval. With Pres. Bush's No Child Left Behind, the special ed services are being changed around a lot. Children who really should be spending their days in more of an LD class are being forced into the mainstream with in-class support. This teacher who offers in-class support can have up to 6 kids to supervise. At least that is the law in NJ. If you want to be in the LD class for longer periods, make sure you make that known. I'll help you if you need it once you have the conference. You do not have to sign the papers right away. There is a window of about 2 weeks. If you don't sign, the IEP goes into effect as soon as that time is up. If you put your concerns in writing and they agree to make changes, then there will be time to do that.
